Hollyhill Black Cherry (P DR)
Form: P Pompon
Color: DR Dark Red
Growers Notes
Color: Deep dark red with an almost purple center
Growth habit: 6’ tall with stems for days. Plants need staking. If you get behind on cutting it, you’ll be mad at yourself as the stems like to intertwine and get tangled. It needs cut twice as often as most of the dahlias we grow.
Blooming habit: Early, very heavy bloomer with 2” flowers. As the weather cools, centers open fast, and keep a cheery yellow eye.
Features: One of the first to bloom, this deep shade of red is different from any of the other small red dahlias we’ve grown. I do wish it came on a bit later, as this color would be super useful a little later in the season. If you don’t stake it, this dahlia will crush any other plant in it’s path.
